Federal Taphouse in State College

Federal Taphouse has an excellent selection of draft beers. Almost endless! The pizza and burgers here are both excellent, and the appetizers are always a good starter. The service here is excellent as well; they are timely an easy to work with. Highly suggested stop while in State College.

The Crab fries were AMAZING. We have been to this restaurant many times. Other favorites are the Buttermilk Chicken sandwich & fish tacos. The chicken sandwich is one of the best my husband and I have ever had. So good! We will continue to go back.

Great addition to the area. Lunch was so good that we came back for brunch the next morning. Probably the most flavorful bison burger I've ever had. The beer menu is extensive and something for every taste (IPAs to stouts and everything in between). Brunch was the real winner... our crew had breakfast tacos, salmon benedict, and pork belly benedict. All massive plates, and washed down with $5 mimosas and bloody marys.

This was my first time here, but it won't be the last! The food was delicious, with lots of great options. The service was fantastic. The view was really neat, and the atmosphere was excellent and modern. We will definitely be back!

It is one of the more upscale, clean, and modern places to meet in State College. An amazing selection of beer on tap. More limited for other beverages (especially on the vodka and wine fronts). Food is above average and the service was excellent. Nice, large bar. The room was crowded, but we still could carry on a conversation.

Awful. First, we called to make sure that they were taking reservations...and there wasn't a party...the message that kept coming up sounded like a man's personal email. They were seating...it wasn't even busy, so not sure why they couldn't answer the phone. Ordered the short rib...it was not a short rib...more like a roast and the veggies seemed raw. Really wanted the devil on horseback appetizer...they were out. Server was very spotty. With food like that, we will not be back. Do have an amazing beer selection, though!

One of the best bars in state college. I feel a lot of ppl disregard it as too fancy, it's true that the prices are a little higher than average around town, but it's definitely worth it. They have a bigger beer selection than any other place, they beat even Champs Downtown which is big, but they don't only have a bigger selection it's better quality wise as well. You could spend countless visits trying new things. The staff and chef are super nice and made me fried fish tacos on request off the menu which were amazing, do try. The food in general is very good you can't go wrong.

We had the crab fries and taphouse burger. It was delicious. Plan on coming back for graduation.

Located in the Frazier street complex ... A great space with a very good selection of draft beers as well as a wood fired pizza oven. Very attentive bar staff and very good food. They do have an occasional tap takeover and offer a handful of six pack and individual bottles to go.

It has a nice setup, and the view near windows is really pretty, however our waitress could of been more attentive for how busy they were, we were there at about 3 pm and they were not very busy. The pretzel appetizer with the beer cheese is really good and I highly recommend it. Where I find fault is that they were out of the burger I wanted to have so I had the fish tacos which looked stunning but lacked in the fish department for me. Overall it's an okay place to go, that's about it.

Fantastic assortment of beers, eclectic atmosphere and menu....everything is delicious, and the service and view make the experience outstanding. This restaurant is conveniently located and we usually get sat very quickly.

We come here every NYE, never disappointed.Staff is always wonderful. Host/hostess and servers.....they get the job done!

Bad service and overpriced. $4/ bottle of Yuengling. Tried to charge me for more bottles than I had. Waited 10 minutes for initial service sitting at an empty side of the bar. Asked nicely for the game on and bartender was rude then a manager put it on for me.

Massive beer selection that changes semi-regularly. Food is good but slightly overpriced in my opinion. Can't go wrong with one of their pizzas. The actual restaurant is clean and modernly decorated. Plenty of tables, booths, and places to sit at the bar. Overall I haven't had a bad experience in my visits

Excellent spot for happy hour or dinner... Or both! Service is spot on. The place offers an insane number of craft beer on tap. The food is delicious. Try the charcuterie board and duck fat fries; you won't be disappointed. The pizzas are also amazing. Fresh toppings, magnificent dough, many different styles available. We haven't had a bad time at the Taphouse any time we have gone! Garage parking is available across the street from the restaurant.

Always a great place to enjoy craft beer, great food! Fries (poutine are fab) and taphouse burger is a family favorite combo. Fresh fish tacos are excellent as well. We have always had excellent service by waitstaff and bartenders. Often a wait for table but enjoy a beer while waiting!!

Not bad! I love the look and feel of this place. Nice and open and not cramped at all. Then food was definitely delicious but also not the very best I've ever had. The 4 cheese pizza was amazing though! That is a close second. The taphouse burger was slightly burned at the edges but other than that it was also great! We got Shirley Temples and those were pretty good as always, and we also got the pretzels with beer cheese! It's only two large pretzels with a tiny amount of beer cheese. Kinda sad in that aspect, since it was so good! The pretzels were kinda hard though, not soft and squishy like I like them. So yeah the only think I would say would be for there to be more beer cheese! Awesome place! And a great view!

This was the best food I had on our trip to State college. The burger was cooked perfectly at medium rare, tacos were great, and the pizza was tasty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. I also had a few different beers and there were so many to choose from. The staff was attentive and kept an eye on our table. Next time I'm in town, I will definitely be back!

Very good experience. Went because I wanted to have a nice dinner but not pay a stupid amount. Everything was a fair price and very delicious! The atmosphere was very casual. My waiter was very friendly and helped me with my beer selection. Do recommend

Our family had a small, short-term wedding reception catered in-house by Federal Taphouse. We're the family that entertains frequently at home, so it's hard for us to give up control. Our experience was absolutely fantastic! The menu planning was straightforward and accessible, food quality was very good; presentation was beautiful and appealing. David and Donnie managed and served our event and they treated us with care. They were friendly and fun and provided a high level of personal service that we so appreciated. I will happily recommend Federal Taphouse to future wedding clients!

Beautiful restaurant and wide collection of beers. They make great foods and waiters are always very respectful and helpful. One of the very few restaurants that open pass midnight. A very nice place to hangout and relax if you are visiting Penn state.

During both visits, I enjoyed quick seating and courteous service. The beer menu here is excellent--a great balance of local Pennsylvania and country favorites. Parking across the street is very convenient, and the location is great downtown for a quick stop. Entrance is located on the West side of Fraser St. on the staircase leading to Target.

Tremendous view. Great beer selection. We just snacked from the menu so didn't get too much experience with the full array of food. A nice addition to State College.

Really nice place but the fish and chips was not good

This is the second "Federal Taphouse" location I've been to. Both times I was very happy with the food as well as the service. This time around I was here on a Sunday evening with some family and friends. We loved the vibe of the place. Our server was a middle-aged gentleman (always a good thing in a town where most of the wait staff are 18-20 year olds trying to make money to pay for college [which is not a bad thing, but don't expect much by way of service from them]) who took really good care of us. My food was excellent, but I also got a chance to taste two entrees that others had ordered and loved them both. Unfortunately we didn't get to try any of their beers on draft, but I know from my experience at their other location that their selection of beers on draft is large and will satisfy most beer aficionados. There are plenty of flat screen tvs sprinkled around the floor so if you're here to watch a game, you'll love it. Enjoy!

Great atmosphere for a game night. The beer selection is huge. The menu is relatively simple, typical salad, sandwich, and entrees options. The ingredients are fresh but the cooking certainly has room for improvement.

The selection of beer was so much fun to try from! Tons of amazing options and the food was great! But what topped off the experience to 5 stars was the service! Our server Trenton was the best! Special thanks to servers like Trenton who truly understand customer service! 💯

The ambiance is great for groups, okay for date night. Food is just okay. I got the fish and chips, which were a little too deeply fried... Not burnt, but close in flavor. My wife got the avocado toast, which she said was good, but not amazing. Fun part of town though and great for groups.

Buffalo chicken pizza was excellent. Great selection of craft beers. Manager made up for lengthy delay in getting pizza served. Overall good experience.

I am an Event Planner and had a large group reservation at Federal Taphouse. The manager is amazing and was very accommodating when the amount of attendees kept growing as well as adding additional items to our food order. It was very smooth sailing with zero issues. I am looking forward to doing business with them in the future!

First time here and I loved it! Went with a couple girls after work. The food was amazing!!! The drinks were good as well. The atmosphere was nice. Our waitress was really nice. I will definitely be going back there for food and drinks!!!

manager was more than accomadating to me and my special allergy sensitivities. he went to the kitchen and got answers to specific questions and offered alternative option. fries are cooked in duck fatyou can enter the property through the second floor of the Hyatt hotel and vice versa
